Will the update include features such as:

-Track-up tracking, as opposed to North-up ?
-Map scale listed on screen ?
-Ability to delete / change waypoints / waypoint names ?

Looking forward to adding more functionlity to a great interface... :D

This sounds very promising I really like the interface, especially since I run a tablet PC in the rig. I look forward to hearing the developments on this product.

Stock was low on the Amazon site on the components in which I was interested a few weeks ago. I guess I need to check again soon.

Thanks Craig it is a big step in the right direction!

In general this is a patch release to fix a couple of bugs. I added APRS and UTM coordinates at the request of the Search and Rescue community. The rest of the bigger features will come with the minor release. I've been so busy with the map-packs that I haven't been doing as much coding as I would like. Fortunately, I'm almost done with the Continental US map-packs and will be able to start coding more again.

To answer your specific questions...

- Track up tracking isn't going to be supported as long as it is a raster map based system. Because they are raster maps the labels are fixed. If we did track up, labels would be upside down when you were headed south.

- Map scale: I might be able to sneak this one in as a scalebar, but I'm not promising. I don't want to delay the patch release.

- Delete/edit waypoints will be in the next minor release.

If you ever see low stock, just let me know. The Amazon store isn't always in sync with the inventory I have on-hand and it doesn't email me when it gets low.

I still vote for adding track-up positioning as an option - much more intuitive on the trail when you are moving, and upside / sideways labels are no issue compared to directional confusion  . Most mapping programs give you the choice; if someone can't take the labels, they can stick to the default north-up...

Oh, well, I can keep dreaming...

I prefer my maps north up as it helps me stay oriented to north, but I understand that when following a GPS track that it is sometimes easier to always have the map in the direction of travel.

Unfortunately, this is a big feature to implement. It requires a fair number of internal changes to happen first. I'll keep it on the feature request list but probably won't include it for several releases. If I get a bunch of feature requests for it, I'll do it sooner.

The priority for the next release after the continental US map-packs is the Waypoint Editing.

I agree.

Great news! I've used the software on one trip so far and was very happy. Much better than running NG TOPO!

Just wondering how many of you here purchased Overland Navigator and are also into HAM/APRS. I've finished the alpha version of the next release but need a few guys to do some APRS testing. If you are an existing customer, are setup to do APRS already, are technically savvy, and have an interest in testing/refining this feature then please contact me at support@spatialminds.com.

It would be great if we could get 3-4 of you in the same group so you could test together.

Thanks,
Craig
