Badlands Off-Road Adventures specializes in providing new, inexperienced and advanced SUV & 4-Wheel Drive (4WD) vehicle owners with the information and expertise required to safely and confidently negotiate their vehicle off-road. We provide "Getting started" basic 4x4 training clinics and advanced 4x4 training clinics  that focus on specific skills such as Driving in Sand & mud, Recovery & Winching, Ruts, Rocks,& Ridges, Survival and use of GPS. Over the past 5 years,

the company has trained hundreds of students including the Orange County, California Sheriff’s department, the US Marine Corps, and Mojave National Preserve.  Our web site is http://www.4x4training.com/ which has details on each class. Badlands Off-Road is a registered corporation with the State of California and carries a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy with Philadelphia Insurance Company.

Instructor

Our Chief Instructor, Tom Severin, is a professional 4-Wheel Drive Trainer certified by the International 4-Wheel Drive Trainers’ Association© and a Wilderness First Responder (WFR). He is a member of the California Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs (CA4WDC) and is a certified CA4WDC instructor. As a former Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer for the State of Pennsylvania, his duties included law enforcement activities, game stocking; public relations and speaking; hunter education; and landowner relations. He has an extensive background (forty plus years experience) with four-wheel drive vehicles, on and off road, in various conditions and countries. He imported and used a Jeep while living in England. Tom is a graduate of Purdue University and a recognized expert in shared service accounting management. He was a presenter for the 1996 International Conference on the Study of Work Teams and has been a frequent speaker on self-directed work team concepts.

Badlands Off-Road strives to provide instruction in a friendly, casual, non-judgmental environment. Non-lethal mistakes are encouraged as a way to learn under the watchful eyes of the instructor. Tom is "Master Tread Trainer Certified" -- which is the highest level of training available through Tread Lightly.
